BOSTON – Seeking their third straight sweep, the Boston University men’s basketball team will make its final road trip of the regular season with a visit to Lehigh on Wednesday night with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
The contest marks an important one for both the Terriers and the Mountain Hawks with just two games remaining. BU currently sits in a tie-for-fifth alongside Bucknell, one game behind both American and Lehigh with Lafayette in second at 10-6. Army West Point, Navy and Saturday’s opponent Holy Cross are all tied for seventh at 6-10.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is on a season-high three-game win streak after claiming victories over Navy, American and most recently Loyola Maryland in an 82-79 OT thriller.
- BU is 4-4 in PL road games this year following the 67-52 victory over the Eagles. The Terriers last fell on the road two weeks prior at Army West Point, 65-50.
- Senior Miles Brewster averaged 15.0 pts. in each of the last two contests to increase his scoring average to a team-high 10.6 ppg while shooting 41.1 percent from behind the arc. He also owns a team-high 3.1 apg and 1.6 spg.
- Freshman Kyrone Alexander averaged a team-high 15.5 points over the last two games to earn his fourth PL Rookie of the Week award, the most claimed by a Terrier in eight years. Alexander is averaging 8.6 ppg and is second on the team at 26 made 3-pointers.
- Senior Anthony Morales (9.1 ppg) has missed 16 total games due to injury but has played a key role in the active win streak, posting 17 points at American and scoring the game-winning layup against the Greyhounds.
- Sophomore Otto Landrum is also averaging 8.6 ppg while earning a team-high 5.6 rpg and 22 blocks.
- Overall, BU is averaging 65.0 ppg and 40.9 FG% while holding opponents to 65.8 ppg and 42.8 FG%.
SCOUTING LEHIGH
- The Mountain Hawks own the longest active win streak in PL action at five with two of those victories coming against current No. 2 Lafayette. In their last home game, they held off the Greyhounds, 75-70.
- Lehigh is 6-5 at home compared to the 6-10 road mark with four conference victories over the Leopards, Greyhounds, Navy and Eagles.
- Tyler Whitney-Sidney leads the Mountain Hawks at 14.6 ppg, just ahead of Keith Higgins Jr.’s 13.7 ppg. Whitney-Sidney also leads the team at 2.2 apg and is tied with Higgs at 31 3-pointers apiece.
- Dominic Parolin is the third Lehigh member at double figures, averaging 11.6 ppg alongside a team-high 2.2 apg.
- Overall, Lehigh is averaging 73.7 ppg and 44.3 FG% while holding opponents to 71.5 ppg and 43.7 FG%.
- The Mountain Hawks are shooting just 31.5 percent from behind the arc but are averaging 73.9 percent at the charity stripe.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 14-9, after BU pulled out a 72-71 victory at Case Gym back on Feb. 3 when Brewster hit two free throws with four seconds left in regulation.
- Last season, the Terriers avenged a 66-55 road loss with a 59-56 home victory.
- BU has won five of the last six contests with a five-game home win streak, but the Mountain Hawks have prevailed in three of the last four contests at Stabler Arena.
