U.S. Senator Cory Booker will be in Camden, Hunterdon, Morris and Passaic counties today for Day Four of his week-long 21-county 2023 Jersey Summer Road Trip.
At the Camden County Correctional Facility, Booker will meet with Warden Karen Taylor, Corrections DIrector David Ownes, County Commissioner Jeff Nash, and incarcerated individuals to discuss mental health and substance abuse treatment, and unveil legislation to make it easier for them to receive health services.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) will join Booker at George Washington’s Headquarters Museum in Morristown to discuss preparations for the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
At a preschool in the City of Passaic, Booker and Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-Paterson) will talk about renewing funding for child care during a time where some facilities face closures.
SInce his election to the Senate ten years ago, Booker has transgressed the state in a whirlwind tour of every New Jersey county.
On Sunday, Booker spoke at a church in Somerset County and then joined Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin at the legendary Reo’s DIner in Woodbridge. He was in Bergen, Union and Warren on Friday, and Hudson, Monmouth and Sussex on Saturday.
Booker will end the Summer Road Trip in his hometown of Newark, where he served as mayor from 2006 to 2013, on August 31 at a forum on strategies to combat community violence with the New Jersey Urban Mayors Association.
